I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University. I got my PhD in Experimental Psychology from McMaster University under the supervision of Drs. Allison Sekuler and Patrick Bennett, where I learned a first principles approach to studying human perception. This has become the primary approach I take in both my research In any interaction with me, you are sure to see their influence reflect in how I approach new research problems.
In addition to my research, I spend a significant time (most of my time, actually) teaching various psychology courses, primarily at WLU's Milton campus. As the inaugaral psychology professor based out of Milton, I am heavily invested and involved in the success and growth of the Milton undergraduate BA Psych program. I teach the two Intro Psych courses, along with Cognition, Cognitive Neuroscience, Statistics, and more.
FInally, outside of the university, I got two young boys at home that keep me on my toes and inspire many of my current interests in psychology. My favourite activity with them is our week+ long camping trips every summer (the lab name is no coincidence). I also absolutely love coffee (come by my office for a cup!) and making & eating sourdough bread.
